Reading a paper slip with one photo

Convat Product · 14 May 2026 · 4 min read

Not every slip starts as a code. Plenty of people still play from a printed slip or a screenshot a friend sent. Smart Scan exists for exactly those moments: point your camera, and Convat reads the selections.

On-device first

The text recognition runs on your device. That keeps it fast, works on a shaky connection, and means the image of your slip does not need to leave your phone just to be read. Once the selections are extracted, the rest of the flow is identical to pasting a code.

From pixels to picks

A photo is messy: glare, folds, handwriting, odd fonts. Smart Scan cleans the image, finds the lines that look like selections, and parses each into the same neutral format the rest of the engine speaks. From there you can convert, analyse or save the slip like any other.

When it is unsure

Optical recognition is never perfect. When Smart Scan is unsure about a line, it flags it so you can confirm rather than guessing on your behalf. The goal is to save you typing, not to introduce mistakes you cannot see.
